The Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball team pauses Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, for a moment of silence before practice to remember NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who was among nine people who died in a helicopter crash Jan. 26. Bryant was a favorite player and inspiration of many on the team.

Incoming La Grande High School senior Harley Creech trains Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at Eagle Cap Crossfit, La Grande. Creech won the Eastside Invitational July 25, 2020, in Springfield and in the process set records in two divisions with totals of 192 pounds in the clean and jerk and 146 in the snatch. She competed at the junior nationals in December in Atlanta, Georgia, and placed sixth.
